Imagine...

You have got a big problem!

You have lived in your home for a long time. It has always belonged to you and your family. One day a man comes to your door and says he needs to take your home. He is going to knock it down for a really big, really important, REALLY EXCITING project that will help lots of people! You do not have a choice and you have nowhere else to go.

Should the man be allowed to take your home even if it is going to help lots of people?

This is not a story.
This is happening right now in our own suburb!
The Sydney Metro Northwest rail link is being built near our school.
It is a wonderful project.

People in our area have been asking for a train station to be built here for a long time.

We need the train to stop a lot of the traffic jams in our area.

Lots of people are going to be able to use the Rail Link to get around so they don't have to use their car all the time.

But...
Animal homes are being knocked down to build it.

Is this okay?

Should we be allowed to bulldoze nature just because people need something?
Where are the animals going to live now?

But...
Animals also get hit by cars
so isn't it a good thing to get more cars off the road?

What is the right thing to do???

Nature or Need

Which is more important?
